“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7).
Advent. It’s a season of preparation. Last week I came to the realization that I’ve been living disengaged lately. As I was wrestling through what engagement looks like, I glanced down at my wedding ring… and remembered.
An engaged woman dreams of the day she will marry her man. She plans her wedding day and prepares to be a good wife. During the engagement period, the bride is making herself ready. And then, after months of anticipation and preparation, there is the wedding… the bride and groom become one flesh.
Are we, the Bride of Christ, making ourselves ready for Jesus’ coming? If we want to live fully engaged, we must put away our lesser loves and be completely his. This season of engagement and preparation is meant to be glorious in anticipation! He is wooing us to himself.
Someday our Heavenly Groom will come for you and me. Let’s get ready!
