Fall 2015: David—King of Hearts

This Bible study was led by Stan Key, president of the Francis Asbury Society (2014-2020).
SUMMARY: Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. (I Sam. 16:7) This Bible study examines the life of David, the greatest king in history! David’s reign set the standard for all who would follow. Equally gifted with harp and sling, he could praise God one moment and kill his enemies the next. One day sacrificially serving his people and the next committing adultery with his neighbor’s wife. Loved and adored one moment, he could be hated and vilified the next. King David led his nation to noble heights and to ignoble lows. What a mass of contradictions! How to account for such paradoxical realities in one person? What made him tick? Though we examine David’s outward deeds, we especially focus on his heart. David’s life helps us to understand that the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart.
