The prophet Isaiah describes one of God’s laws established at creation: that rain and snow come down from heaven in order to water seed planted in the earth, resulting in a harvest to the sower and food for hungry persons. The prophet then draws the analogy of God’s Word being proclaimed and accomplishing His purposes in the world. (Isa 55:10–11)

This law of harvest is rather simple: the farmer prepares the soil and plants the seed. Essentially, at this point, the farmer’s initial work is completed—until the time of harvest. However, the resulting crop is dependent upon rain to water the seed and plants—something over which the farmer has no control. Rather, he patiently waits until the harvest time.

Similarly, in our Lord’s kingdom, we are responsible for planting the seed of His Word. Then, as sowers, we are dependent upon God to send the rain of the Holy Spirit to water the seed and bring the harvest in the hearts and lives of the hearers.

The Francis Asbury Society endeavors to be a ministry that faithfully sows the seed of God’s Word in many varied venues of life and location where hungry people are found. Then, through the work of the Holy Spirit, the result is a harvest as God has purposed. Your prayers and financial support enable FAS to continue to expand our efforts to sow the seed of God’s Word so that spiritually hungry people can be fed and know the joy of a transformed life that is lived “wholly devoted to God.”
