Dr. Vic Reasoner

Director of the Francis Asbury Institute

Vic longs to see Christ’s kingdom expand through personal holiness and global revival. He begins this new phase of ministry committed to prayer, preaching and teaching, research, writing, and publishing. For too long, the academy and the church have functioned in two separate spheres. We need to see study as an act of worship and including teaching in the life of the church. Charles Wesley wrote, “Unite the pair so long disjoined, Knowledge and vital piety: Learning and holiness combined.” Vic wants to see the Francis Asbury Institute facilitate that vision.

Vic was a pastor for 44 years, ministering in Kansas, California, West Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina. But he was always involved in kingdom work beyond the local church. He has been involved in the leadership of ministerial associations, volunteered for hospital chaplaincy, served as a camp meeting president, led a chapter of the American Family Association, and had two articles published in the Wesleyan Theological Journal.

Since his first book, published in 1991, he has been involved in writing, editing, and/or publishing 52 books, with 3 more in process. Some of these books have been translated into seven additional languages.

For twelve years, Vic was involved in the administration of Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, SC, and since 2003 has served as an adjunct professor for seminaries in Nigeria. This year he lectured online or in person for five educational institutions, including Asbury University.

Vic received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Kansas City College and Bible School (now Kansas Christian College) in 1977. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, in 1987, majoring in church history. He received the Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1994.

His wife, Cindy, teaches sixth-to-eighth-grade history at Trinity Christian School. Her passion is to weave biblical knowledge and character development into her curriculum and influence these young lives for Christ. They have five daughters, ten grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
