Meet Our Evangelists

Francis Asbury Society evangelists are gifted evangelists and teachers who proclaim the message of salvation and scriptural holiness. They come alongside organizations to lead evangelistic and renewal ministries, they embrace Wesleyan-holiness theology, they model a godly lifestyle, and they spread God’s life-changing message. Meet our evangelists!

Tom Atkins

FAS Evangelist

Tom Atkins represents a new generation of evangelists by seeking to bring the timeless truths and experiences of the gospel to our contemporary culture. His major focus of ministry is helping local churches—through revival services, camp meetings, and men’s retreats—to experience real revival through the power of the Holy Spirit so that the body of Christ is renewed in spirit, refreshed in faith, and revived in power.

Tom Atkins graduated from Asbury College (now University) with a B.A. degree in Physical Education in 1968 and from Asbury Theological Seminary with an M.Div. degree in 1971. He has served as president of the Asbury University Alumni Board; vice-chair of the East West Christian Church and Ministry Report, and president of the National Association of United Methodist Evangelists. Tom presently serves on the board of directors for the Wesley Foundation at the University of Georgia.

After many years of struggling with a call into full-time evangelism, Tom was appointed as a general evangelist from the North Georgia Conference in 1994. He pastored United Methodist churches in North Georgia for 23 years before this appointment. Since then, he has preached in 30 annual conferences in the United States. In 2013, Tom was awarded the Philip Award for Faithful and Fruitful Ministry of Evangelism at the National Congress on Evangelism.

Tom and his wife, Susan, have been married since 1968. They have two sons and six grandchildren.
