Meet Our Evangelists

Francis Asbury Society evangelists are gifted evangelists and teachers who proclaim the message of salvation and scriptural holiness. They come alongside organizations to lead evangelistic and renewal ministries, they embrace Wesleyan-holiness theology, they model a godly lifestyle, and they spread God’s life-changing message. Dr. George Small

FAS Evangelist

Dr. George A. Small, Jr. is passionate about helping people find joy through a life of entire sanctification. Through practical hands-on ministry in church, school, university, real-estate and community settings, George has been ministering to the needs of people since 1974. His evangelistic messages blend his deep-rooted commitment to holiness with the practical day-to-day challenges of living a life that glorifies God.

George pastored diverse, multi-ethnic, urban, and rural congregations with the Church of the Nazarene in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Toronto, Canada. He launched a successful daycare and preschool program that catalyzed church growth. His passion for the spiritual development of students led him to serve as the Chaplain and Bible Teacher of a large Christian high school in Toronto and then as a Christian high school principal in Connecticut. George’s ministry in the school setting led him to teach working adults at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. As a professor and then Academic Director of an expanding educational ministry where he hired adjunct instructors, supervised classes and instructors, and directed curriculum creation and implementation.

As vice president of an independent holiness campground, George coordinated and led small teams to construct and rehabilitate housing facilities that provided improved spaces for camp worshippers. On several community boards: Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Police Chaplains Association, Starting Point Pregnancy Services, Know Works, and the YMCA.

In later years, God called him to create a unique ministry to the underserved, renting homes to those no one else would house, helping people take steps to home ownership, and employing young people rehabilitating from drug abuse.

As a full-time Registered Evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene, George welcomes opportunities to preach, drawing on his years of ministry experience in the context of sharing the Gospel and doctrine of holiness. George lives in Mount Vernon, Ohio with his wife Lynda. He is blessed to have two grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren.
