SUMMARY:FAS Regional Retreat: "Grace Greater"
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Francis Asbury Society (FAS) regional retreat was themed “Grace Greater.” We enjoyed great fellowship and worship and dug into God’s Word together. The retreat was held at Longs Chapel Methodist Church in Waynesville\, NC\, August 18–20. One of our teachers was Dr. Prabhu Singh\, a member of the Asbury Theological Seminary Board of Trustees and former president of the South Asia Institute of Advanced Christian Studies (SAIACS) seminary in India. Prabhu has joined our team at FAS as an associate evangelist and is partnering with us to train a new generation of preaching evangelists. \nRecordings\nThe recordings are currently being edited. We will send an email to attendees as well as post a notice here when they are available.

SUMMARY:2024 Hemlock Inn Retreat
DESCRIPTION:We enjoyed two full retreats for Hemlock Inn Retreats 2024!\nThough we recorded every session\, we had trouble getting quality recordings. We didn’t have a professional recording tech\, so we did the best we could. Fortunately\, an expert graciously volunteered to clean up our heavily distorted files\, making them audible if not perfect; some distortion remains. Despite the audio quality\, we hope you will enjoy listening to these sessions as you strive to have “A Heart That’s His.” \n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\n \nRev. SUMMARY:2021 Hemlock Inn Retreats
DESCRIPTION:In the next to the last book of the Bible\, Jesus’ brother\, Jude\, describes in twenty-five verses how believers can stand firm for the “faith once for all delivered to the saints.” Confronting the pervasive apostasy and blatant heretical teaching within the fellowship of Christ\, Jude exhorts all true disciples of Jesus to persevere by embracing the holy faith and sanctifying power of the triune God who is able to “keep us from falling.” At this year’s Hemlock Inn Retreats\, Dr. Andy Miller III will make us aware of the imminent\, corrosive dangers of false teachings and encourage us to fight the good fight within our faith communities. \nFEATURED SPEAKER\nThis summer\, Dr. Andy Miller III and his wife Abby moved from leading the work of The Salvation Army in Tampa\, Florida\, to serving as vice president for Academic Affairs at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson\, Mississippi. His primary areas of interest include Salvation Army history and theology\, holiness\, and homiletics. Dr. Miller also serves on the Board of Directors of the Francis Asbury Society and is a consultant to the Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology Center for Preaching Excellence. He hosts a podcast called “More to the Story\,” which shares weekly content from an orthodox Wesleyan perspective. \nThe Millers have three children: Andy IV\, Titus Wesley\, and Georgia.

SUMMARY:2017 Hemlock Inn Retreats
DESCRIPTION:An Undivided Heart\n“The Francis Asbury Society was organized to perpetuate the biblical message of heart holiness—an undivided heart—a life ‘wholly devoted to God’ . . . to preach the gospel of an undivided heart\, a heart filled with love for God to the extent that a person’s got his hands off\, and Christ possesses him.” —Dennis Kinlaw \nCD and DVD recordings of this event can be ordered in our Bookstore.View the Hemlock Inn Retreats 2017 brochure here.

SUMMARY:2020 Hemlock Inn Retreats
DESCRIPTION:God on the move\nActs is the account of how the movement of Jesus began small and went multi-national. There are good reasons for this\, all rooted in character of God. He was on the move and His believers were moving with Him\, witnessing and discipling as they went. Similarly\, we can be part of His movement in our locales today. \nCD and DVD recordings of this event can be ordered in our Bookstore.

SUMMARY:2019 Hemlock Inn Retreats
DESCRIPTION:to be Holy\nHow do we live a holy life in an unholy society? How do we live as children of God who represent him faithfully in the world? These are some of the questions that God’s people have faced and continue to wrestle with today. Christians who live in counter-cultural ways often endure the pressures and trials from wider society. A look at the lives of heroes of the faith reveals that God honors those who remain faithful and steadfast to him in times of trials. Jesus experienced the same challenges and left us an example of how to lead such a life. The call to holiness is the call to embody his example in order to live so that we can please God. \nCD and DVD recordings of this event can be ordered in our Bookstore.

SUMMARY:2018 Hemlock Inn Retreats
DESCRIPTION:Jesus – The one who saves us from our sins\nWhen Christians think about Jesus saving us from our sins\, we usually think about our personal sins\, the sins we commit. However\, the problem of sin is much deeper and more complex. We can live as slaves to sins we don’t commit as well—the physical\, spiritual\, mental\, and emotional wounds that are inflicted on us by others. In the incarnation\, the eternal Son of God came to save us from this twofold problem of sin through his divine nature and human nature\, culminating in his resurrection and exaltation. Through the Holy Spirit\, we can be united with Christ\, the One who saves us from all our sins. \nCD and DVD recordings of this event can be ordered in our Bookstore.View the Hemlock Inn Retreats 2018 brochure here.
