Oswalt\, an American scholar and distinguished professor of Old Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary. \nSUMMARY: The northern kingdom of Israel was facing destruction. Under the inexorable pressure of the empire of Assyria\, one king after another was being bloodily replaced. The sins of the nation seemed to be multiplying. Defeat and exile were looming. What would God say to a people like that? He cannot ignore their sins and the consequences of those sins\, but he also wants to tell them that while his love will not prevent those consequences neither will it be deterred by them. What that means is that there is hope beyond the destruction. If\, in the midst of judgment\, they will turn back to him\, judgment need not be the end. Cultivating the cardinal virtues is not the solution for sin—only the atoning work of Christ does that—but it can lead to a healthy\, holy life. DESCRIPTION:For this fall we will look at testimony messages spoken in the Old Testament. These testimonies continually pointed people to God\, telling of his love and faithfulness\, praising his character and his provision\, and reminding them of God’s sovereign authority over all of creation. We will look at who is speaking\, who they are speaking to\, and the response of those that were listening. As we reflect on what is being shared\, we can learn better how to share our own stories of faith. We serve a compassionate\, faithful\, and loving God that reveals himself throughout the pages of Scripture. God wants us to share about his character. He wants us to tell others how he has been faithful. He wants us to always remember who he is and what he has done. SUMMARY:FAS Student Society Spring 2022 Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:As we walk with Jesus and seek to look more like Him\, we know that involves surrender so He can come in His fullness and take up residence in us. We will never surrender to someone we do not fully know or trust. This semester we are invited to the heart of God where we will experience His love and kindness as we look at the stories of others who were able to say “yes” to Him. And hopefully\, we will find that the same God who walked with Adam and Eve in the garden and who provided for Abraham is our God\, and we can learn to trust Him. In the Spring Semester\, we will focus especially on the stories in the Old Testament.

DESCRIPTION:This Bible study was led by Stan Key\, president of the Francis Asbury Society (2014-2020)\, and was produced in 2017. \n SUMMARY: When Jesus called his disciples\, he said simply\, “Follow me.” He was inviting them on a journey. He himself would show the way. In fact\, he was the way (John 14:6)! The classic biblical description of this journey with God is the story of how Israel left Egypt\, guided by the pillar of fire as it led them to the Land of Promise. This two-volume study follows the route the Hebrews took on their journey as they passed through the Red Sea\, spent time at Marah (the bitter place)\, camped at Mount Sinai\, turned back in fear at Kadesh Barnea\, wandered in circles in the desert for forty years\, crossed the Jordan River\, and fought the battle of Jericho.
